Putting the ‘Dan’ in ‘Dandy’

TODAY SEES the first Dandy of 2011 hit the shelves of newsagents across the land – and look who’s back on the cover!

Yes, everyone’s favourite clumsy, oafish cowboy Desperate Dan reclaims his rightful spot on the front page, after weeks of that young upstart Harry Hill hogging the limelight. (No offence to Harry, of course – it’s just nice to see the familiar face of Dan beaming out from the front page again!)

Within the pages of the comic, you’ll find two new comic strips, ‘Doctor Loo‘ by Duncan Scott and ‘Mr. Meecher the Uncool Teacher‘ by Wilbur Dawbarn – hooray!

There’s also an excellent, full-page, Tron-inspired Korky the Cat by Phil Corbett, and oh yes! Another fun-packed episode of my very own George vs Dragon, wherein the hapless knight inadvertently invents the skateboard several centuries early:

Talking of George and that cheeky dragon, I received a fantastical piece of fan-art from a super-talented young artist called Harry Rickard – I think it’s aces, and you will too when you see it with your own eyes any…minute…NOW:

    Got the latest issue of the Dandy, it was okay, not amazing but your George VS Dragon strip was funny! :D Made me laugh. :D
    Sadly no Kid Cops or Robot on the Run which annoyed me a bit, Doctor Loo was great, he isn’t actually ‘new’ though, he was in the Dandy Xtreme for two years… Mr Meecher was okay, not amazing, the artwork wasn’t bad but the story has featured in the Beano before…

    I think Harry has done a fantastic job with his fan art, I think it’s great that you are encouraging him, but careful! He may be after your job or he may even be an evil dragon in disguise, plotting to kill you?

    Just a thought….

    Glad you liked it so much, I have a sort of storyline for Carrotty Kid and will start it hopefully tonight!
