Davebook
OUT OF ALL the characters I’ve created or worked on for The Dandy, the last one I would have ever imagined to get their own Facebook page would be Dave the Squirrel, the cameo-crazy critter as seen in a few of my George vs Dragon and Harry and his Hippo strips.
But, yesterday, that’s precisely what occurred, as the acorn-loving animal finally scurried into social networking, courtesy of Dave fan George Shiers - thanks, George!
So why not go and visit Dave’s new Facebook page, and like him to spread the squirrel love, and to keep up-to-date with all the latest Dave news!
Go on, GO NUTS!

They’re Back!
THERE’S a 44-page, bumper-sized issue of The Dandy out today, featuring no less than FOUR pages of comics by yours truly, including the return of Strictly Come Laughing winner Harry and his Hippo, in a two-page tale! HOORAY!
Yes, the peculiar pair are back, and facing trouble in the form of rivals Rory and his Rhino! Is it all over for our heroes before its even begun?
Also getting the double-page treatment this week is George vs Dragon, as the nitwit knight undertakes an epic QUEST to find a special sword capable of slaying dragons! There’s ACTION, EXCITEMENT and…a fire-breathing PIG???
And for fans of the medieval mischief-makers, this issue ALSO features a George vs Dragon ‘Create A Comic‘ feature, where you can make your own three-panel strip using some cut-out characters! Get creating, and send your efforts in to editor@dandy.com!
The rest of the comic is packed with funnies, with the return of Pre-Skool Prime Minister by Jamie Smart, more Justin Beaver by Stu Munro and ace new strip Sea Dogs by Daredevil Dad artist Steve Beckett and the final Mighty Bork by Wayne Thompson, featuring a lovely little cameo from an old Dandy fave!
Hope you enjoy the issue, I’m dead proud of the two two-pagers this week, so hope they give you a chuckle. Or maybe even two!
The Dandy issue 3536, £2.50, out NOW!

The Peril of Facebook
Those of you following The Dandy on Facebook will have noticed that they’ve revived Dandy-fave Beryl the Peril for a series of short mini-strips EXCLUSIVELY for the Facebook page, to be drawn by a group of ‘mystery artists’ in a feature called ‘Pass the Peril’.
Daredevil Dad creator Steve Beckett started proceedings excellently (click here to see!) and it turns out I’m the poor fellah who has to follow such a corking beginning! Above is a little sneaky-peek of my take on the Peril – the full strip should be up at some point this week, so keep an eye out for it!
And if you’re NOT following The Dandy on Facebook, do so now, to see how this strip continues (and to suggest ideas for how it should proceed!), as well as getting previews of upcoming stories and a selection of Dandy classics online!
POKE!
