This weeks’ Dandy is another BUMPER 44-page issue, chock (or CHOC) full of fun, including not one, not two, but THREE comics by yours truly! YOWZERS!
First up, George vs Dragon (above) continues its second series with a special Easter/St.George’s Day-themed strip, as George tries to cancel Easter in favour of a day dedicated to him, the big-headed buffoon! Needless to say, his plans don’t run Egg-sactly to plan! Arf!
This might be one of my favourite George vs Dragons yet – I somehow managed to cram a lot of stuff into the panels, including the return of everyone’s favourite miserable mammal, Dave the Squirrel! HURRAH!
I also have two little mini-strips running this week, the first of which is a Springwatch parody I like to call ‘Springwatch’. I know, I’m dead clever, me. Here’s a snippet from said spring-based strip – featuring a sneaky cameo from an old Dandy favourite:
Yes, that’s Brassneck sitting in the scrapyard, there. Poor Brassneck!
And before anyone points it out, I know Bill Oddie doesn’t present Springwatch any more, but Chris Packham is not as much fun to draw as Oddie. So THERE! Razzz!
The second mini-strip is entitled Mad March Hare, which might not quite make sense as it’s now April. But shush. Just enjoy the tale of a cute little bunny with a terrible temper problem:
This probably isn’t the issue to buy if you hate me, mind.
So that’s The Dandy, issue 3531, out NOW for £2.50 – go buy it, it’s egg-cellent! And that’s no YOLK!
The splendid piece above is by super-talented Dandy fan Harry Rickard, who submitted some fine work before, but I think he’s really outdone himself this time! Fantastic work! And don’t they look good gracing The Dandy’s cover (subtle hint!)
Next up we have something a bit different – a fantastic Dragon model made by 9 year-old Rogan Vlahakis, using plasticine! Check it out!
Thanks to Harry and Rogan for their excellent examples – if YOU wish to send along any George vs Dragon fan-art for inclusion on this very website, send them along to email@example.com – or if you want them to be in The Dandy itself then email them to firstname.lastname@example.org!
That iron-clad idiot George returns to the pages of The Dandy this week, as George vs Dragon begins its second run! HOORAY! Since we last saw him, George has been in training to defeat Dragon – but has it all paid off? Hopefully not, or it’ll be a really short series, but pick up this week’s issue just to be sure!
Elsewhere in this week’s comic, my new mini-strip continues apace, as Grampire gets ready to take to the skies:
I was pleased to see some lovely comments about Grampire following his debut last week – so thank you, and I hope you all enjoy his misadventures this week as well!
It’s a jam-packed Dandy this week, a 44-page bumper issue on account of it being the Easter holidays and all. There’s more Justin Beaver by my chum Stu Munro, a four-page Bananaman adventure by Wayne Thompson, and plenty of puzzles and things to do, including a make-your-own Desperate Dan and Korky kit! HURRAH!
Meanwhile, following last week’s plea for votes for Harry and his Hippo in the Strictly Come Laughing contest, I’ve been both shocked and humbled to see that my strip has leapt forth from third place to the top of the table with a staggering 1172 votes! Egad! Thank you very much if you voted or got your chums to vote for me!
It’s not over yet, mind, so if you still haven’t voted then get your vote in before the closing date of the 16th (that’s Saturday, day fans!) Frankly, all the strips deserve to do well, so if you really cannot stand me or my infernal doodles then just vote for your favourite anyway, it’s all a bit of fun!
Tara for now!
