Joust A Minute

THERE’S ACTION aplenty in this week’s Dandy, as George and Dragon face off against each other in an EPIC jousting contest in George vs Dragon (presented by Sir Fozzy de Fumbles, an ancestor of Fozzy Fumbles from Jamie Smart’s awesome Arena of Awesome strip).

Who will win? Find out by picking up the issue, I’m not going to tell you here (it’s Dragon, though).

Things also get physical in this week’s Harry and his Hippo, as Hippo takes up Zumba to try and get into shape:

Needless to say, introducing a hippo into an exerise class doesn’t go well. Stupid Harry.

There’s also a perfume-based Madvert in this issue, drawn by my own fair left hand, which gave me the opportunity to draw Bill Oddie again after my short Springwatch mini-strip series earlier in the year. I don’t know how I’ve come to draw so much Bill Oddie for the comic!

Goodie Goodie Yum Yum!

Three pages of my stuff is SURELY a good enough reason to buy the new issue, but if you’re still not convinced, then maybe Stu Munro’s excellent new strip Tiny’s Temper will sway you? Or how about the return of everyone’s favourite terrible teacher, Mr. Meecher, by Wilbur Dawbarn? Or how about more superb Sea Dogs by Steve Beckett? AND SO MUCH MORE BESIDES!

Just go out and buy it, yeah? It’s only £1.50 and packed with goodness. JOUST trust me! Hahahahaha!

Oh my word.

Fangs for the Memories

Hey, it’s Wednesday! And you know what that means, right? COOOOOOMIIIIIICSSSSSS!

The Dandy is out today, and prepare your handkerchiefs, for this week’s issue features the last in the current run of my Grampire mini-strip! Awwwwww!

I’ve enjoyed drawing the antics of the geriatric blood-sucker, and have been pleased to see a positive response from you lot (the readers). I’ve had some lovely emails and messages suggesting Grampire should be promoted to a full-page, but while I can’t give you that news, I CAN tell you that I recently got the okay to produce some more of the mini-strips, so you should see the old-age oaf reappear sometime in the not-too distant future. HOORAY!

While one old face disappears, another reappears, as that useless, Cockney wizard Wirlin is called upon by George in this week’s George vs Dragon. Here he is, in his suspiciously Peanuts-esque booth (a little tribute to one of my favourite comic strips EVER EVER):

Check it out, mush!

As well as my two contributions, today’s issue is also crammed with other cracking comics, including a pun-tastic Justin Beaver by Stu Munro (which also contains another Peanuts reference, eerily enough), Yore by the ever-excellent Etherington Brothers, two pages of Korky the Cat from Phil Corbett and there’s an epic battle between a headmaster and a fat, angry bee in this week’s Arena of Awesome by Jamie Smart. Bee-rilliant!

So that’s The Dandy, issue 3535, out now for a mere £1.50!

Next week’s issue is a 44-page half-term special, which’ll feature a TWO-PAGE George vs Dragon (gadzooks!) AND the return of a certain Hippo in his own double-length extravaganza! EXCITING TIMES!

I’ll have a sneaky peek of Hippo’s return some when soon, but until then enjoy this week’s larks!

Later, chums!

Dandy Preview: The Big Fight!

A little teaser poster I knocked up in honour of the BIG FIGHT in this week's Dandy!

LEEEETTTTT’S GEEEEET RRRREEEAAADDDY TOOO RRRRRUUUUMMMMBBBBLLLLEEE!

The latest issue of the increasingly excellent Dandy has arrived on my doorstep today, and it is a DOOZY!

First up, we have the grudge-match that’s been in the making for DECADES, as The Dandy’s very own Desperate Dan takes on The Beano’s Dennis the Menace, in this week’s Arena of Awesome, by Jamie Smart. It’s really good fun, and Jamie’s take on Dennis (as can be seen in the little teaser poster I knocked up above) is excellent. Awesome, INDEED.

Then there’s the second of my very own strip, Boo!, in which the useless ghoul tries to terrify an OLD LADY. With hilarious results! (Hopefully).

Thirdly, The Etherington Brothers (the cartooning geniuses behind the DFC’s excellent Monkey Nuts) bring their highly-anticipated and stupidly gorgeous strip Yore to the comic – here’s a taster of the wonders to come:

YORE-some!

As well as all THAT goodness, there’s a two-page Mr. Meecher by Will Dawbarn, and Valentine’s Day-based woe for both Lew Stringer’s Postman Prat, and Phil Corbett’s Korky the Cat.

All that AND a little tiny cameo by George (from my George vs Dragon strip) – and it’s not even by me! Wowzers!

So there you go, an action-packed, fun-stuffed and ever-so slightly romantic issue of The Dandy! Pick it up at all good stockists from Wednesday the 9th of February, for only £1.50 – you’ll LOVE IT!
