Help the Aged

AFTER a three-week break for the Easter holidays, The Dandy returns tomorrow, bringing with it new episodes of Bad Grandad (see preview above) and the world’s worst ninja, Iykan Si-Yu! HURRAH!

Meanwhile, on the internet, Bad Grandad is one of a handful of strips up against each other in The Dandy’s latest online poll! Eek!  The old fellah is currently in third position, which isn’t too bad for a relatively new character with only a handful of strips to his name, but if you’re enjoying the geriatric jokester and want to give him your support, then go over to The Dandy’s website and click on Bad Grandad’s picture (as seen below). It’s as simple as that, no registration needed! No sign up required! No mysterious, dark rituals or human sacrifice expected – just one measly little click and you too can help the aged!

Iykan’t Si-Yu

THERE’S no Dandy out this week (last week’s issue is out until the 18th of April for the school holidays) but fear not! That nutty ninja, Iykan Si-Yu, is here to fill the gap, in these two strips that were rejected by Dandy HQ.

Well, I prefer to call them ‘deleted scenes’. So here we go – two deleted scenes from the current run of Iykan Si-Yu! Enjoy – and be sure to look out for further adventures of the world’s worst ninja when The Dandy returns in two weeks!

Grab A Grandad

This week’s issue sees one of my personal favourites in the current run of Bad Grandad, as I not only really liked the script but was really pleased how it came out. I had slightly changed my drawing technique with this strip, switching to thinner pens to allow for a slightly finer line and a bit more detail – not a huge shift, but something very eagle-eyed readers might notice!

Talking of Bad Grandad, I sat down and recorded myself drawing the geriatric japester for The Dandy’s YouTube channel last week. So if you want to learn how to draw him, enjoy the eight excellent minutes of video below! (WARNING: contains traces of my FACE).

Elsewhere in this week’s comic, there’s another episode in the life of the world’s worst ninja, Iykan Si-Yu, plus Mega-Lo Maniacs, a new series from everyone’s second-favourite Jamie (after the Jamie out of Jamie and his Magic Torch), Jamie Smart. And then there’s Not So Wise Owl, a new mini-strip by the fabulous Laura Howell. WHAT A FUN-PACKED ISSUUUUUUE!

The next issue of The Dandy won’t be out until Wednesday 18th April, so I’ll meet you back here in thre weeks. Deal? Deal.
